Privacy Policy for Guess The Note

Last updated: August 22, 2026

Guess The Note is a piano ear-training app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, and Android. This page explains what data the app collects, how it's used, and what it doesn't do.

Summary

Feedback form

If you use the in-app Feedback form, the message you write (and your email address, if you choose to provide one — it's optional) is sent directly to Web3Forms, a third-party form relay service, which forwards it to the developer's email inbox so we can read and respond to it.

No other information is included in that submission — no device identifiers, no usage history, no location data. If you don't use the Feedback form, nothing is ever sent.

The Feedback form is not shown to users in mainland China, since the third-party service it relies on is not reliably reachable there.

Data stored on your device

Your current streak, best streak, and accuracy are kept in memory while you play and reset when you close the app or start a new session. They are never written to disk.

A few small values are saved on your device, using the standard settings storage each platform provides (UserDefaults on iPhone, iPad, and Mac; SharedPreferences on Android; local app settings on Windows):

These values are counters and a version number. They contain no personal information, are not linked to you or to any identifier, are never transmitted anywhere, and are not accessible to us. They are removed when you uninstall the app.

Purchases are handled entirely by the App Store, Google Play, or the Microsoft Store. The app asks the relevant store whether this account owns the unlock; it never sees or stores your payment details. If you choose to leave a rating, the prompt is shown by the store itself and your review goes to the store, not to us.

Location

The app does not request location permission and does not use Core Location or any IP-geolocation service. It reads your device's configured region and time zone (standard, public system settings — the same information any app can read without a permission prompt) solely to determine whether to show the Feedback form. This information is never transmitted anywhere or stored.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The app contains no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and does not use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). It does not show ads and does not track you across apps or websites.

Children's privacy

Guess The Note does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only personal information the app can ever transmit (an email address) is optional, typed in voluntarily by the user through the Feedback form.
